What is Neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback involves training the brain. A Neurofeedback consultation uses techniques that teaches the brain to function more efficiently.
During the consultation, the brain is observed using EEG (electroencephalogram) as it performs specific tasks. This information is shared with the client and behavioural and cognitive modulation planned. The brain is then rewarded when it changes its own activity to more appropriate patterns. This is a gradual learning process can be used to improve any aspect of brain function
that can be measured.
Neurofeedback is also called EEG Biofeedback, because it is based on electrical brain activity measure with EEG or electroencephalogram.
Neurofeedback trains self-regulation. Self-regulation is a necessary part of good rain function as it allows you to break bad habits, change old patterns of behaviour and become more adaptive, creative and innovative.
Neurofeedback can also addresse symptoms of brain disregulation which may include the anxiety-depression spectrum, attention deficit, behavior disorders, various sleep disorders, headaches and pain disorders, PMS and emotional disturbances. It is also useful for enhancing mental (cognitive) performance.
What are Neuroscience Supported Techniques?
We are unable to subject large groups of participants to real time EEG scans, hence cognitive, contemplative, creative and movement techniques are repeatedly studied on small groups in the lab. The most effective practices are then used in real life settings and group classes. My creative imagination, cognitive training and I-YOGA workshops are based on these lab studies.
